I had the pleasure of being a part of a very cool couple from Michigan’s Wedding a few weeks ago. They came down to Miami to see the Radiohead concert, and to get married in Marathon, a place that was very special for them.

They were hoping to find a photographer who would be able to come down, and shoot this important day for them. Their plan was to have a nice simple wedding on the beach at the southern tip of the United States. They wanted it to be about them, starting their life together, and they wanted the images to capture the emotions in the air.

Shooting around the studio…

Posted: March 18, 2012 in Uncategorized

These are some of the first images we have been able to take around the studio, due to all the traveling back and forth. These images were inspired by the surroundings of our new place, as well as visualized and styled by Mariea (who is also the subject in the series). The outfits are ones we picked up over a year ago at the flea market in Raleigh, NC, and the red mask is a good ol Lucha Libre mask we bought at a shop in Orlando last year. This is the first time ever using any of these pieces.

The lighting is pretty simple, Elinchrom Quadra ringflash. I have not used it very much, and at one point found ringflash to be overused by many photographers. However, I can now see the reason why so many photographers rely on them. They are very simple, and the light quality from good ones, its fantastic. They tend to light the subject very evenly, and it can give them a nice dramatic edge. I look forward to experimenting more with it.
